What There Is To Do in the Off-Season
Parker does not shut down when summer ends. A few things worth planning around:
- Fishing. Striper, largemouth and catfish all fish well through winter. Launch from the dock without loading a trailer.
- Parker 400. One of the oldest off-road races in the country runs every January and fills every room in town.
- Hiking and off-roading. The Buckskin Mountain trails and the desert washes south of town are genuinely pleasant once the heat breaks.
- Day trips. Lake Havasu is about 40 minutes north; Quartzsite’s winter gem shows are an hour south.
